Welcome back to the sixties! On Golden Animals’ debut full length, Free Your Mind and Win a Pony, This two-piece band of Tommy Eisner (guirtar/vocals) and Linda Beecroft (drums/vocals) revive that 60’s folk, country, blues and rock ‘n’ roll era. Let’s start with track 1, "The Steady Roller", it's very catchy with a mid-tempo bluesy rhythm. "Queen Mary (The Flop)" strides along the same path, but introduces some welcome change-ups. "Follow Me Down" is a great little ditty as both Tommy and Linda work so well when they sing together and that’s what makes the album shine.
Same goes for "Turn You Around"; this song just seems to stick with you for days. At times we thought maybe there could be more to this album, but its simplicity and their good chemistry is what makes this a nice listen. And being only 30 minutes is perfect.
