Blitzen Trapper, The Civil Wars, Bright Eyes
Male/female folk duo hailing from Rhode Island with their first full length. The album features terrific violin, acoustic guitar and banjo work, but our major frustration is the sultry female voice of Morgan Eve is not prevalent enough as the best tracks feature her support and harmony. Unfortunately, David Lamb's voice (at times and we hate to paint this image) reminds us of an annoying hokey game show host. You will find yourself very annoyed with his vocal style after a full listen, scratching your head why Morgan Eve is not a more active and featured participant, checkout the "Bilgewater", it's a good example.

Salt for Salt does have nice dark undertones throughout providing a rustic feel. The lyrics and song titles are quite original much like that of Bright Eyes, painting unique images and moods. realistically, there are tons of great contemporary folk bands out there for you to choose from. Unfortunately, our male vocal hang up leaves us craving more Avett Brothers after several listens. This may collect a little dust as a result. Our recommendation is to turn it into an EP and burn the tracks where Morgan Eve is featured.

Standout Track: Bilgewater
