Folk Rock
Sounds Like:
Bright Eyes, Conor Oberst
This band pumps out a lot of folk emotion with cool lyrics and pretty deep subject matter. Five members and a ton of special guests. With heavy acoustic guitars as the lead, mix in some mandolin, jambone, organ and harmonica for a pretty unique folk production. For some reason, their home state of Oregon fits perfectly with their sound. Pretty good mix of variety with some foot stompers and some very mellow darker tunes.

At times, however, the seriousness of the album goes a little too far and seems to be hell bent on a mission to get a bit too 'gut-wrenching' and dramatic. Alexander Ellis does sound quite a bit like Conor Oberst if you are a fan of his work. Our editors love the new folk emergence just getting warmed up. This one is worth grabbing if you are looking to expand the genre and grab something a little different.
