Sludge, Stoner rock
Sounds Like:
Melvins, Crowbar, Snail
From the depths of the Charles River welcome newcomers SEA. The four-piece from Boston, Massachusetts have just released their first three song demo. Take the sludge elements of Melvins, the rawness of Crowbar and some stoner rock components from Snail and you have SEA. This demo actually has decent production, as it has a self-produced sound which at times actually enhances some of the sludgy compositions. The vocals of Stephen LoVerme are raw and guttural, and on occasion will showcase a softer side to provide the listener with some variety. Now, this may not be the most original sludge rock we have come across, but they have a quality about them that is promising.

Band Members:

Stephen LoVerme - Vocals/Bass
Mike Blasi – Guitars
Liz Walshak – Guitars
Andrew Muro - Drums

Track Listing:
1. Seer - 7:52
2. Moros - 6:55
3. Chronos - 6:11

The first track “Seer” is a mid-tempo sludgy affair with trippy, echoed vocals of despair. The spacious doom breakdown at the 4:50 is a nice touch and the slow driven solo has a classic doom quality about it. It’s a great jam to end the song. The majestic beginning to the next track “Moros,” is very pleasing. The song will soon develop a heavy, steady rhythm while maintaining its lofty style; this could be our favorite track. The final song “Chronos” is just more sludge being thrown at us. The vocals on this track can be a little rough around the edges, but we figure they can only get better over time.

SEA is a promising band and worth your attention if you’re looking for something new, but not ground breaking within this genre. You can get this as a ‘Name Your Price’ download on their Bandcamp site, so you can’t go wrong. - 4/18/2015
