Beastial Invasion from the Ukraine may be on the cusp of breaking into new territories for heavy metal. Monomania, the bands latest release is a frenzy of metal that will test your patience. Beastial Invasion do not rest on one particular metal genre, the album bounces from thrash to power metal to classic British heavy metal like an uncontrollable heavy metal pinball machine. There is even a tad bit of funk that shows up in the bass once in a while. However, they don’t take it to the brink and dabble in Death or Black metal, that would be an interesting or maybe even to chaotic. Of all the blended metal styles found on Monomania, the band seems to have a plan here and we admire their willingness to take metal in new directions.
The vocals of Vakhtango Zadiev are powerful and upfront, like most power metal singers. His range is impressive as he belches out King Diamond screams and even channels his inner Bruce Dickinson. If your in the hunt for some heavy metal off the beaten path with a chaotic nature, look no further than Beastial Invasion.
1. The Period of Tragedy 02:17
2. Monomania 04:13
3. The Angel of the West Window 05:49
4. Deny Your Future 01:22
5. The Garden of Earthly Delights 07:39
6. Memories. The Аrchitect of the Universe 05:08
7. Sir Francis Drake the Queen's Pirate 06:36
8. Retribution (Atheist cover) 03:35
”Sir Francis Drake the Queen's Pirate” takes the cake. With intriguing lyrics and the transitions between power metal and thrash is wildly entertaining. The last 30 seconds comes out of left field and goes into some 70s prog rock jam, very cool touch.
Adult Beverage Pairing
Ghost in the Machine by Parish Brewing Company in Louisiana. This 8.0% New England Double IPA has underlying flavors of citrus, but can be very bitter. The balance of slight citrus and the bitterness can be overwhelming, but after a few sips in you’ll come to realize how unusual and good this brew is. A great pairing for this album.
