Mathew J. Bigbee is one talented fellow. His unique folk vision is told under the name BigBee of the Whitetree with only sporadic accompaniment by friends and family. The one man show hails from Seattle Washington and clearly has a love for the wilderness and Native American folk. The BigBee sound can best be described as melancholy, introspective and tender.

The album primarily entails MJB’s somber vocals amongst some very poignant guitar work. North American Nomad is one of those albums well suited for a peaceful hike or to evoke emotions if you are in a reflective mood. MJB takes you along for his introspective journey of sadness and triumph. We find this style music to be timeless and thought provoking.

What is our favorite track off the album to burn if we only had a few bucks to spare?
"New Perce" features tremendously poignant melodies that will stick with you. Eagle Flight is very unique and spacial. At first listen it struck us as quite odd, but the ambient approach and vibrant guitar work grew on us quickly.

Does the album art reflect the music?

While we anticipated a wilderness attribute in the art, the cover is a bit hard to reconcile. Reminds us of the cover to the album
Solkyri (Sad Boys Club) 2015.

What is the most unique moment on the album?
At the end of "Nez Perce" there is an intense tribal chant and percussion moment that will startle you. Very unique touch.

What other albums would we recommend if you enjoy North American Nomad?
Definitely give Wickerbird’s latest album a gander. Great stuff and the review is on the Rotation11 website.

What adult beverage do we recommend while listening to BigBee of the Whitetree?
Ballast Point’s Calm Before the Storm... a punch of flavor using cold brewed Caffé Calabria coffee and a hint of vanilla adding a lighter-bodied golden cream ale. The end result is a surprisingly bright, coffee-forward beer that will calm your nerves.

What are our final thoughts on North American Nomad?
We are excited to have stumbled upon the talent that is Michael J. Bigbee. This will certainly be in heavy rotation for quite some time and we highly encourage you to give it a listen. North American Nomad will be a great addition to your collection for that spontaneous hike or pensive moment. - 8/11/2016
