Guitarist/songwriter Csarnogurszky István from Hungary is one hell of a talent flying under the radar. Going by the alias Musicformessier, he has many side projects, one being Post-rock band Silent Island, which is where we discovered his talents. Another is a solo project known as Black Hill, which is a blend of instrumental acoustic and Post-rock. This mini EP is a calming and endearing affair, the acoustics are very crisp and well thought out. After listening to this one you’ll want to dive deeper into the catalog of Black Hill.

What are the highlights of Lost Rivers?

All five tracks are blissful acoustic heaven and blend together very well, so there really are no standout cuts. The EP will whisk you away and lower your blood pressure by quite a few points. The last track "Yamuna" features some hypnotic tribal percussion, which really elevates this EP.

How is the production value?
The production is excellent, the acoustics sound tremendous and clear and there is low end tone carried throughout that really provides a rich sound.

Does the album art reflect the music?
Yes, the art of Ferenc Kapiller is warm and inviting.

What adult beverage to enjoy while listening to this album?
We highly recommend Single Hop Cascade IPA by Sierra Nevada. This beer highlights with aromas of tea, citrus, and pine. The malt flavor is second to none without any bitterness.

What are our final thoughts on Lost Rivers?
If you’re in the hunt for some thought provoking acoustics, look no further than Black Hill, his style and sound is very cathartic. We urge you to visit his Bandcamp page and just get the whole collection. - 1/11/2017
