The album cover provides zero in the way of a punk gritty vibe, yet the tracks are dosed with testosterone filled angst when you spin Chromatic Black's debut album. Chromatic Black hailing from Munich, Germany apparently combine live art canvas painting with their live shows. We will give them a notch for the originality there, unfortunately that may be the extent of it.
Fueled by its sarcastic vocalist much akin to Serj Tankian of System of a Down fame meets Mike Muir from Suicidal Tendencies. And you guessed it... they also appear to have a some sort of mini political anthemic punk rock agenda coupled with just flat out tom foolery. These boys are up to no good, for sure. You are assured a little chuckle out of "Asshole in the Mirror" or perhaps the statement of how we are all to the system in the absolutely woeful "Human Animals".
There are zero moments of grandeur here. Other than throwing this one to get some knee slapping laughs out of the in your face, comin' straight atcha lyrics. Poetic moments like, "its night time lets lose control", will get you fired up to grab some Seagrams and let all hell break lose. - 4/21/2014
