Death Metal
Sounds Like:
Amorphis, Vorum, Oranssi Pazuzu

In Death metal, we tend to lean towards albums that explore and take us beyond the genre’s traditional sound. That’s where Finnish Death metal quintet Corpsessed comes into play. Impetus of Death, the band’s second release will beat the living shit out of you with an unforgiving and relentless heaviness. There is also something different about this album that keeps us coming back for more punishment. It seems to carry over into some sort of atmospheric death metal, meaning it has a broader and richer sound than other bands within this genre. With vocals in typical death fashion, they are both harsh and trippy while bringing forth a sense of despair. Listen to tracks like “Forlorn Burial” and “Endless Plains of Dust” as they spiral into mesmerizing psychedelic metal like Oranssi Pazuzu. The band seems to focus more on the atmospheric side of death metal that is all consuming, each track has a way of pulling you into their warped world.

1. Impetus of the Dead 06:19
2. Sortilege 05:32

6. Forlorn Burial 05:49
7. Begetter of Doom 04:32
8. Starless Event Horizon 10:25

Standout Track(s)
”Starless Event Horizon” takes the cake, this 10 minute onslaught travels through avenues of death metal to psychedelic /doom death.
