Sounds Like:
Earthless, Ten East, Phish
Talk about bands flying under the radar. Instrumental psyche rockers Electric Octopus has quietly been releasing some stellar instrumental music this year. The trio hailing from Belfast, UK has captivated us with their blend of psychedelic soaked, blues filled jams. What we have here is three instrumentals weighing in over 70 minutes of pure psyche rock that will no doubt consume your mind. It’s soulful, funky, heavy and bluesy, giving us everything we want from a freeform jam band.

What impresses the hell out of us the most is the album was recorded in one day. It’s highly entertaining all the way through, there are no long gaps or meandering feedback, these guys just play what feels good in the moment.

What are the highlights of This Is Our Culture?
The whole album is a highlight as it’s impossible to break this one down. All three tracks are flat out great, so if you love the jam sessions of Phish and the psyche heaviness of bands like Earth, this is for you.

How is the production value?
The production is excellent especially for recording in one day. Each instrument shines and is played at its highest standard. These guys have tremendous chemistry and feed of each other’s style very well.

What adult beverage to enjoy while listening to this album?
Grab yourself a bottle of Coffee Pecan Pie Porter by Clown Shoes Brewery. This 8.5 ABV porter is brewed with cold coffee, spices and pecans, creating wonderful flavors that will enhance your listening experience.

Does Electric Octopus have other albums worth listening to?

What are our final thoughts on This Is Our Culture?
Electric Octopus deliver a fresh tilt on psychedelic jamming. Albeit a long journey, the trio weave through very intelligent melodies to paint some very impressive landscapes that will enhance your music collection. Crank this one up and let your mind wander. - 5/22/2017
