We could not even get through track 3 let alone a full rotation before we clicked further to purchase the vinyl on this one. Next, we Google the shit out of the band name in an attempt to track down any semblance of where these four blissful artists may have collaborated prior to this release. The result was a circle of mushrooms in a grassy area, we are now full of wonder and intrigue. With minimal backdrop or story behind the band, we hug and embrace, the people who fell from the sky out of nowhere that appear before us beaming with brilliance.

Its a head scratcher, but we are not going to complain, Faerie Ring hailing from Evansville Indiana have released a juggernaut of a debut album in The Clearing. They capture a pensive deep dive into otherworldly territory. Swirling multi-layered riffs take hold while Wallwork’s distant majestic vocals paint vibrant landscapes of sin and despair. The seven tracks meld stoner and doom with constant Nebula and Fu-Manchu like forward movement. There is no looking back, just forward velocity into grinding fuzz.

Track Listing:
1. Bite the Ash (4:00)
2. Lost Wind (5:41)
3. The Ring (5:01)
4. Somnium (6:29)
5. Miracle (4:32)
6. Heavy Trip (5:17)
7. Heaven’s End (5:26)

Standout Track:
After perhaps our ninth full rotation, this still becomes a difficult chore. The riffs and melodies on the seven tracks intertwine so well, it is difficult to pull out the stalwart. Gun to our heads, we are magnetized by "Heavy Trip" and its blissful grinding undercurrent. This track will get you moving through any roadblock ahead. The energy to forge ahead with such rich spiraling melodies is what shines through on this track. Rhew’s insane percussion keeps us elevated and fucking kills it on this track.

Adult Beverage Pairing:
After much thought, heavy needs the heavy and what better than Three Floyds Brewing Co. (Indiana) and their succulent IPA Dreadnaught. With an IBU of 100 and ABV of 9.5% this fucker packs a wallop with citrus tones and a deep crispness. Multi-textured to engulf your senses amongst The Clearing.

Final Thoughts:
King Volume Records and Kozmik Artifactz are fucking brilliant at what they do. Faerie Ring have absolutely floored us with their debut. A journey that seems to get richer with each rotation. We have been doing this almost seven years now and we can count on two hands those albums that score over 10 on the dial. Faerie Ring exemplify pure chemistry and we are crossing our fingers that they realize the gift that they have. We see great promise in their future and look forward to a diverse library ahead.
