The trio hailing from São Paulo Brazil can crank out the production. Their tenth release Avalanche is their darkest and most euphoric to date. The opener "Zoey Speaks" starts off the ‘Apocalypse Now’ vibe where the sense of meander bleeds into a fuzz-filled ending. The album takes off from here exploring some very dark and disturbing places. We appreciate Firefriend’s penchant for variety as both Julia and Yury do a wonderful job offering up some diverse vocal angles. Ultimately Avalanche buries you from the get go into their lofty dark journey.

Standout Track:
The guitar-centric 10:55 length "Who’s Gone What’s Missing" takes the price here. Yury explores some very wild fretwork pathways on this track. The forward movement in the melody acts as a wonderful undercurrent to the entire track.

Adult Beverage Pairing:
We have the perfect Brazilian beer to accompany the psychedelic trip of Firefriend’s Avalanche. Novo Brazil Ipanema Double IPA is a  hop fanatic’s dream, loaded with an avalanche of dry hopping additions of Simcoe, Mosaic, Amarillo, Citra, and Galaxy hops. Packed full of tropical goodness, it has just the right amount of bite to let your mind wander amidst the dark channels of Firefriend.
