Yes indeed, Gathering of Kings contains six vocalists and a nostalgic cover harkening us back to Anderson Buford Wakeman and Howe. Sure we could have just said Yes or Asia, but we are talking supergroups here folks. GOK is a Swedish supergroup with a flair for the involved and throwing in the kitchen sink. A sink filled with all sorts of keyboard fruit pies and pinpoint over-the-top guitar solos. Check out the cast of characters at the end of this review. Kudos for the amazing cover artwork was created by the German artist Markus Vesper Art.

Standout Track:
"Love Will Stay Alive" takes the prize for its heartwarming throwback feel to Footloose meets Top Gun meets Vision Quest. You will hear melodies that feel blatantly stolen from either Bonnie Tyler or perhaps a Poison hook. Regardless, the track made us happy and invested in the nine tracks that follow.

Adult Beverage Pairing:
Let loose bitches to a refreshing Swedish Polar Bear Cocktail. A fury filled mix of heaven and delight, the perfect fit for the magical supergroup of Gathering of Kings.

Ingredients include ,2 ounces raspberry vodka (or unflavored if preferred), 1 ounce blue curacao 1 sprite (splash, adjust to taste),1 lemon juice (splash)

Final Thoughts:
No question this album took us a bit out of our comfort zone. Our love for the heavy was compromised a bit through the hair metal swoon and theatrical drumstick twirling. That being said this album is loaded with energy and the heartfelt love for hard rock melodies and guitar solos. Call it comfort food for the music fan, this one deserves some of your time for some good old fashion flair and fun.
