A deep descent into darkness and anguish ensues on the follow-up to 2016’s Hymns For the Broken, Swollen, and Silent. Gnaw Their Tongues’ latest onslaught entitled Genocidal Majesty is saturated with tortured cries and lackluster flat-lined noise. Industrial distortion at an unfortunate monotone pace provides for a difficult full rotation. While Gnaw certainly paints their landscape, the lack of contrast on their latest is a bit of a departure from previous release. Hymns For the Broken... was chockfull of unique experimental vibe and richer bass. Genocidal Majesty appears to have spent more time on the interesting song titles than the actual song machinations and production.

Standout Tracks:
"The Revival of Inherited Guilt" provides the most texture and at least takes some time to breath. Still quite tinny but we appreciate the unique experimental vibe and swarm of killer bees effect.

Alcohol Pairing:
Two Chefs Brewing Funky Falcon Deep yellow, slightly cloudy beer with a delicate head that features many fruity aromas of citrus and tropical fruit. The aftertaste is funky, aromatically bitter and dry. ABV 5.2% Origin Netherlands

Lasting Impression:
Take a gander at previous Gnaw Their Tongue releases. This one will unfortunately leave you flat and your ears reverberating that incessant tinny industrial feedback. - 4/8/2018
