Grey Skies Ahead from Austria do not play your typical Post-rock with long buildups or 11-plus minute epic tracks.  The foursome throw a lot of complex progressive themes along with a dash of stoner and math rock into Panacea. It’s actually a beautiful sounding instrumental album that carries its own weight in the Post-rock word. Just check out the track “Marrow,” it has it all. The soft heavenly beginning leads us into some heavy math-like fretwork, a great track that showcases their versatility. Now “Panacea” shows us a more progressive approach, we actually hear some Animals As Leaders in this one. The fifth track “Plesiomorphic” is extremely technical sounding as its not very heavy, but so damn intriguing. The musicianship on this track is stellar and we love how thy keep things subdued, it stands out among the heavy and very well may be the highlight of the album. Plus the transition into the last song “Apomorphic” is flawless and keeps us engaged.

Standout Track(s)

Adult Beverage Pairing
Lazy Hazy by California brewery Fall River. The 8.00% ABV IPA is smooth with a hint of tangerine. Very flavorful with some strength, making this a great pairing with Panacea.
