On our exploration of the heavy, we sometimes discover a band that makes us halt our search because of the sheer brilliance and originality of the artist. Welcome Kint from Italy and their debut Stoned.Immaculate. What drew us in? The album art of course. A skull drawing may not be the most original concept for a metal band, but there is something alluring about this drawing and its soft graphite pencil technique. Upon first rotation we knew this was something special just by hearing Raffaele Marchetti’s vocals and how Kint brilliantly transcend multiple heavy genres. We hear influences stem from bands like Melvins, Unsane, Bloodiest and Young Widows to name a few, yet this is original stuff people.

Kint will take you on a dark journey of heavy rock laced with stoner-driven rhythms, atmospheric sludge, heavy grunge and trippy noise rock. Vocalist/guitarist Raffaele Marchetti is an unusual talent. With his desolate and controlled vocal work he creates a desperate atmosphere, just listen to tracks like “Flat” and “End”. Bassist Andrea Ghiacci and drummer Adriano Pratissoli round out the band and provide the mood-altering percussion and ominous tone of the album, these guys have absolute great chemistry. There is really no way to describe in words what Stoned.Immaculate sounds like, what we do know it that it’s one of this years most intriguing albums.

Alcohol Pairing
Victory At Sea - High West Barrel-Aged by California’s Ballast Point Brewing. The 12% ABV American Porter is brewed with cold-steeped coffee and vanilla and aged in bourbon & rye whiskey oak cask. Complex flavors emerge with notes of soft caramel and smoky oak over a dark chocolate and roasted almond body. It’s a rotating brew, so get it while you can, it’s the perfect companion to Stoned.Immaculate.

Lasting Impression
Stoned.Immaculate is one of this years finest releases and just gets better with time. Released through UK label Small Pond Records, they definitely have a gem within their catalogue. Do yourself a favor and forgo previewing the brilliance (or maybe preview once to get the flavor of the band) and commit to purchasing this masterpiece.
