Its A Perfect Circle in space!! Fans of Maynard subdued, alternate vocal style will enjoy the latest release from Washington DC natives Lithium Dawn. The foursome continue to build a diverse discography, as Gravity Waves features a bit more ambient and spoken word with the backbone of atmospheric progressive rock. Lithium Dawn do a nice job with patience and developing build-up for very melodic moments. Ondrej impresses with passionate vocals very much akin to Maynard. A few tracks feature very very subtle death metal vocals that are quite out of place in our opinion. Jens is outstanding with terrific bass lines that really resonate sharply for the listener. Ultimately some of the “filler” tracks get into the way of some heartfelt progressive rock and bring the album rating down a few notches.

Track Listing:
1. Subject 2029 (2:35)
2. Escape Velocity (5:31)
3. Blue to Red (2:06)
4. Valles Marineris (4:37)
5. Interloper (2:40)
6. Event Horizon (6:23)
7. aQ (3:47)
8. Singularity (8:26)

Standout Track:
"Escape Velocity" shines as the Dream Theater vibes emanate. The track features some tremendous highs and lows. Wonderful contrast and atmospheric melodies. The more aggressive metal vocals actually work well towards the end of this track. After a few turns of ‘Escape Velocity, you will be fired up to pull out some older Perfect Circle albums and put them back in rotation.

Adult Beverage Pairing:
DC Brau Brewing Co’s ‘Space Reaper’ at 9.2% ABV is a wonderful compliment to ‘Gravity Waves’ Its cosmic tones surround your palette as the double IPA provides punch and weightlessness. Loaded with mosaic hops and complex array of tropical fruit, citrus, berry, herbal, earthy and pine characteristics.

Final Thoughts:
We appreciate the expansive vision of Lithium Dawn along with the well written and patient tracks throughout Gravity Waves. While the ambient atmospheric filler does trouble us a bit, overall this album has opened us to the progressive minds of the foursome. We would be curious to hear what other A Perfect Circle fans would think of Ondrej’s sound. At first blow it may be off-putting, but after several rotations you can really appreciate the authenticity of their overall progressive sound.
