Lo-Pan, Baroness
The debut release from Netherlands-based foursome Norea is basically a middle of the road heavy rock album with an alluring album cover. What we have here is five tracks of mid-tempo rock with elements of stoner and grunge. We found the album to be rather tame and does not take many chances, every song stays within the same formula. The vocals sound like a combination of Live meets Fuel fronting a heavy rock band.

What are the highlights of the album?
The last song “Mr. CEO” goes off on an exploratory jam that keeps building, it had us fired up and thinking perhaps there is more to the album. After countless rotations we felt this album gets lost in the shuffle of the crowded heavy rock scene.

What adult beverage to enjoy while listening to this album?
Shock Top Twisted Pretzel Wheat. While this brew is rather tasty from the get-go, after a few it becomes too sweet and you’re ready to move on.

Final thoughts for Norea.
Even though our crew found the album a little bland, we urge fans of grungy heavy rock should give these guys a gander. You just never know what fits into your rotation. - 9/5/2017
