The first album from California based Saviours is just pure heavy groove. Clocking in at 33 minutes, it’s the perfect length, the songs are fairly short and fast. The guitars steal the show on this album. Constantly going from a sludgy thrash to harmonized rhythmic leads with the bass and drums falling in line. “Rise to Pyramid Form” is a classic example.
The vocals, aren’t anything special, can he sing a slow note, not sure, but it fits nicely on this album. Saviours have more than just a metal album here, the combination of styles are catchy and makes you want to headbang slightly, not too much. For fans of High on Fire and Motohead, this will fit in perfectly. It will be interesting to see where they go from here.
