Skraeckoedlan have absolutely enthralled us with their fuzzed-out, progressive heaviness on this latest masterpiece, Eorþe. The Swedish trio’s latest release sonically bursts of progressive stoner riffs so deeply rooted and well thought out. The journey that Eorþe maps out is incredibly layered and complex, requiring multiple rotations to appropriately digest. Eorþe (meaning Earth) is a concept album based on a story by sci-fi author Nils Håkansson. While we do not know a fucking lick of Swedish, the tones and warm dialect fit so brilliantly amongst the cascading fretwork and intricate melodies.

The music that Skraeckoedlan has bestowed upon us is absolutely up there with some of the best heaviness we have heard this year. At first listen, you may hear a heavy Truckfighters influence, but the album is so much more. Eorþe is extremely layered with tremendous attention to detail and very exploratory. The vocals are very well controlled and engaging as they are clean with mellow and trippy tones. Add to this the fluid guitars, steady bass work and rhythmic drumming, the album hits on all levels.

Standout Track(s)
”Creature of Doggerland” is a gem of a tune. The first three and half minutes has this Baroness meets Mastodon heaviness than shifts to a smoother rhythm with fantastic echoed dual vocal work. Than at 4:55 in, the sudden shift to a more monumental, spacious stoner vibe is a pleasant turn of events, the song just gets stronger as it carries on. The track “Mammutkungens Barn” will suck you in with it’s fluid stoner mastery… words can’t describe. The albums sixth tack “Elfenbenssalarna” infuses elements of space rock, yet another avenue the music travels through and shows the bands exploratory nature.
