Lisbon, Portugal is known for its custard tarts (second most consumed only to China). These treats are best described as soft, smooth and rich. Adjectives that also encapsulate the psychedelic vibe from the Lisbon native trio The Crazy Left Experience and this latest gem. The band’s seventh release intelligently laid out title tracks span approximately 32 minutes flowing majestically with soft psychedelia and a layered rich texture. Inacio and Abrantes wield upper register fretwork and swirling airy melodies to provide a tremendous escape for the listener. Machado’s bass undercurrent is prominent, providing beautiful depth to this album. throughout the journey. Kudos to Lisbon studio Donkey Shot and sound engineer Ricardo Vieira da Silva for very supportive production that only enhances the experience.

Standout Track(s)
On an instrumental concept journey such as Death, Destruction and Magic it is always difficult to single out one track particularly as the three flow so well together. Gun to our heads however… we have to go with "Magic". Perhaps the most trippy of the three splendid tracks, it bleeds euphoria and spacial concepts. Machado is absolutely amazing on this track. We find ourselves fixated on the bass-lines that form this orbital plunge. So much great contrast on this track.

Alcohol Pairing:
We recommend the great brewer Dois Corvos hailing from none other than Lisbon Portugal and their Galáxia a milk stout at 6% ABV. Galáxia is a rich and creamy beer, with chocolate, coffee and caramel flavors from the roasted malts. This stout has a slightly sweet finish from the addition of milk sugar the perfect companion to The Crazy Left Experience’s latest album (and full library in fact).

Final Thoughts:
If you are into psychedelic rock and euphoric space jams, you need to open yourself to The Crazy Left Experience. The trio has flown under the radar for far too long and deserve your attention. Immerse yourself in their library and float away. Many of their releases are offered as a ‘name your price’ on BandCamp, so a wonderful way to get exposed to this talented band.
