How could we not review a band from Kingston, Ontario? The landscape that fostered some of the most poignant heaven sent lyrics that were truly ahead by a century. Welcome the Orbiss Journey. Perhaps we are catching this one right at the onset as we can’t find shit about this band. A part of us feels like perhaps this is a front for Rob Baker and/or Paul Langlois to put out some new tunes in a different direction? Well we can only guess so lets just cut to the chase regarding the album. Volume One provides for an interesting ride. While there is a psychedelic undercurrent, the instrumental album actually spreads itself pretty thin hitting a variety of themes. We find ourselves getting sucked in with some of the entertaining spacial concepts, but then spit back out with some of the awkward slide and acoustic guitar lighter stuff. Overall the album gets a bit too choppy and lacks that fundamental flow.

Standout Tracks:
"The Creature’s Tears" really resonated with us. Terrific fretwork with a very unsettling melody. Dark and most suiting for the album cover. If only they could have stuck with this theme.

Alcohol Pairing:
Grande Cuvée Porter Baltique- 10% ABV Baltic Porter. Robust dark lager inspired by Porters from around the Baltic Sea region. This beer is luxuriously round with a mild bitterness. The malts contribute flavors of coffee, chocolate, and vanilla. The use of cherry-wood smoked malt provides a subtle hint of smoke.

Lasting Impression:
The mysterious band’s first release shows some promise. We feel their strength is delving more into the psychedelic darker territories. Nonetheless we do here some influences. - 3/20/2018
