Gritty provocative hooks define Lip Lick the sophomore release from WeArtists. The Warsaw Poland natives ooze catchy (can’t get it out of your head) melodies with a carefree edge. This one swings a bit to the softer side of heavy and is a somewhat out of our comfort zone, but aesthetically made the cut for our review. Alek’s vocals become a bit overbearing on the last two tracks as the circular choruses do weigh on you.

Track Listing:
1. You’re So Heavy I Can’t Resist (3:09)
2. She’s Hot (3:22)
3. Banana (3:56)
4. Ground Shaker (3:08)
5. Golden Glare (3:29)

Standout Track:
"You’re So Heavy I Can’t Resist" is the most engaging and heaviest track of the lot. Alek’s vocals are a bit different on this track almost morphing a bit to the rockabilly side. We appreciate the vocal distortion and variety on this track.

Adult Beverage Pairing:
Kompot Z Suszu. The beverage is a traditional style of punch made from water and sugar simmered with dried fruits. This cocktail is a great variation and perfect for the provocative evening.

1½ oz. susz (vodka infused with dried fruits)
¾ oz. fresh lemon juice
¾ oz. ginger-cardamom honey syrup
Tools: shaker, strainer
Glass: Old Fashioned
Garnish: candied ginger

Add all the ingredients to an ice-filled shaker and shake well. Strain into the glass over a large cube. Garnish.

Final Thoughts:
Its not often we dive into an album with this much of a pop-edge. Lip Lick does have some impressive moments particularly on the first three tracks. Unfortunately the lackluster ending hurts our overall rating. Hopefully the bands next release will infuse some more distortive vocals with a heavier edge. Worth keeping a pulse on these folks particularly given their penchant for edgy album art.

Band Members:
